Our database is for the University at Buffalo’s work study program to help keep track of student and event information. The database tracks the jobs students worked, overall gross pay, and ability for more shifts. In addition, the database records each event and its specific positions needed to work. Within the work study program there are 9 positions for 52 work study students. The positions include Alumni Arena ticket window staff, pregame assistant at South Gate (UB Stadium), assistant student supervisor, VIP will call at Stampede Square, Plaza attendant, will call and player pass list, gate crew: student ID scanning, gate ticket distribution & program book distribution. Our database also tracks which positions students have had experience working in.
Utilizing this database will reduce the amount of time required to track and contact the employees. This database gives easy access to compile lists of who is working which shifts, and which of these employees are free to work when they are needed. The database allows organization of work study participants by labeling each person by their experience, work hour limit (12 hrs/wk), work history, and pay limit ($1,200/yr). Further, it helps the organizer keep track of who is working and allows the program to pull contact information faster.
